Fotopassion 1st international Salon 2020

Fotopassion 1st International Salon 2020 is an international level photography contest organised by Fotoart Society of Kolkata, India. This photography salon is approved by Federation of Indian Photography (2020/FIP/152/2020), International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP 2020/542), Photographic Association Master of Light (MOL 2020/61), and Global Photographic Union (GPU L200181). The salon is digitally hosted and managed by Pixel Clash, A photography Salon Software.

The jury panel of Fotopassion 1st international Salon 2020 is featured by a group of photographers of world repute. The jury panel includes MR. ADIT AGARWALA EFIAP/G, FRPS, EFIP, MR. C.K. BANERJEE EFIAP, FFIP, and MR. PRANAB SARKAR AFIAP, EFIP/G. The salon has four sections namely Open Monochrome, Open Colour, Nature, and Photo Travel. The submission of entries of photographs is closed on 23 December 2020. The judgement is done on 27 December 2020. Notification over mail and web is done on 3 January 2021. EDAs will be prepared and sent to FIAP on 20 January 2021. Exhibition of the awarded and accepted images will be between 27 February 2021 to 21 February 2021. All the awards and catalogues of the salon will be distributed from 1 March 2021.

Fotopassion 1st International Salon 2020 has a total number of 132 awards that include 4 FIAP Gold Medals (1 in each section), 8 FIAP Honourable Mention (2 in each section), 4 FIP Gold (1 in each section), and 20 FAS Gold (5 in each section), 20 FIP Mention (5 in each section). Otherwise there are GPU Gold and MOL Gold awards too. Apart from these awards, there is 1 FIAP BADGE for the Best Author, 1 MOL BADGE + 1 MOL RIBBON for the best Indian Entrant, and 1 PLAQUE for the Best Club (condition apply).

SURAJEET RAJKHOWA has been awarded India FIAP GOLD award for the image STARVING. DANIEL LYBAERT from Netherlands receives FIP Gold for VERDRIET IN DOEL IN ZWW. JEONGSOO KO from South Korea receives GPU Gold for the image ROSE STAIRS 1. GILLIAN STEYN from England receives MOL Gold for the image BANISH THE BETRAYER. Five FAS Gold awards winners in this section are LI KA WAI (from Hong Kong) for the image TOUCHING FAS GOLD, ISTVAN KEREKES (from Hungary) for SHEPHERD GIRL, QUANG VINH DANG (from Vietnam) for the image DISASTER FAS GOLD, YUK FUNG GARIUS HUNG (from Hong Kong) for the image THE BEST MOMENT WITH FRIENDS, and SHIU GUN WONG (from Hong Kong) for the image MADISON 2.

Colour Open

MALCOLM COOK from England receives FIAP GOLD for the image TURN BACK TIME. ERNIE BELLMANN from Germany receives FIP Gold for the image LIGHT AND SHADOW, and PETER HAMMER from Australia receives GPU Gold for the image TOWER OF ILLUSIONS. The Five FAS Gold awarded images are UNLOCK (by NIKHIL ADHIKARY from India ), JESSE IN VLISSINGEN (by DANIEL LYBAERT from Netherlands), I AM WITH (by H S BYAKOD from India), RUNNING HORSES 1 (by YUK FUNG GARIUS HUNG from Hong Kong), and EUREKA (by SWAPAN CHAKRABORTY from India).

Nature

GANGADHAR AG from India receives the prestigious FIAP Gold for his image CHEETAH FAMILY HUNT WILDEBEAST. The FIP Gold and GPU Gold awarded images in this section are ATTACKING CHEETAHS (by SATHYANARAYANA C.R. from India), and SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST (by BJOERN ENGEN from Norway) respectively. Five FAS Gold awarded images are SUDHIR GAIKWAD”s (from India) FEASTING ON A PRIZED CATCH, NARAYANASWAMY K.M’s (from India) JACKEL CARRYING CHEETALS HEAD, IAN WHISTON’s (from England) CHEETAH CUB HUGGING MUM, CLIVE D TURNER’s (from Scotland) CHEETAHS ON THE LOOKOUT, and SUVANKAR BANERJEE’s (from India) DARTER4.

Photo Travel

FIAP Gold image in the Photo Travel section has been awarded to HA PHI THI THU from Vietnam for the image MU CANG CHAI.FIP Gold in this section has been received by ISTVAN KEREKES from Hungary for the image ALPEN TALE. 5 FAS Gold award winning images in this section are KAI HAY CLEMENT LAW’s (from Hong Kong) HALLSTATT BY NIGHT 1, DEBASISH CHAUDHURI’s (from India) HEART OF THE MOUNTAIN, SERGEY AGAPOV’s (from Russian Federation) FISHING VILLAGE, HUY SON NGUYEN’s (from Vietnam) PLANTING RICE TERRACES SEASON, and EYAL AMER’s (from Israel) TO THE MOUNTAIN.

I have used this software while judging Saints in Need salon in July 2020. Its one of the most user friendly software, I have used in Indian salons. This software has flexbility of thumbnails with marks, provision of ranking, changing marks is smooth and with memory stored, a very well thought of algorithm, which surely helps a judge to do full justice and gives enough freedom. As the Saints in Need is a charitable salon , Sri Raju Sutradhar provided entire software support free of cost. My heart felt thanks to him and his team for this benevolent work. It is my first judging experience with Pixel Clash software and off course the experience is awesome. It is fast and enriched with features which are mostly required by a jury member. Uploading, payment updates and judging are completely hassel free. No problem reported so far. After completing the marking juror can see the thumbnails with given marks which is a much required feature in my opinion. Mr. Sutradhar is very courteous and always ready to extend the support regarding software. I highly recommend Pixel Clash software for salon/circuit management.( Disclaimer: I am in no way related to Pixel Clash or with Mr. Raju Sutradhar neither I have any interest with it. )

The software used for Online judging in Saints in Need 2020 by Pixel Clash was an excellent one. It was so smooth and fast, without any problem. The second round was even more enjoyable with a particular facility called 'Review marks with thumbnail' through which it was possible to review the images in the order of scores given by me, and also providing a scope of modification at that stage. The overall judging experience using this software was highly enjoyable.
