Discovery Photo Exhibition 2022

Discovery Photo Exhibition 2022 has just been over with the enthusiastic responses and active participation of budding and professional photographers from across the world. This international level photography salon is recognised by the Photographic Society of America (SA 2022-184), and the Global Photographic Union (GPU L220064). Discovery 2022 is based on four sections namely Open Colour (PIDC), Woman (PIDC), Open Monochrome (PIDM), and Nature (ND). The digital photography exhibition is manned and managed by Pixel Clash, a Photography Salon Software.

The closing date of the submission of entries in the Discovery 2022 was 13 March 2022. The judging of all the sections was done between 20 March to 23 March 2022. Notification of awards and acceptances were sent to the participants via website and emails on 6 April 2022. Awards will be despatched by 30 April 2022. The online gallery of the awarded images will be open for all by 30 April 2022.

Recognised photography artists from India and abroad such as Ms. Sharifa Khatri (India) (MPSA, AFIAP, MICS, FFIP, cMOL, GPU-CR3, GPU-H), Mr. Pandula Bandara (Sri Lanka) GMPSA, GMAPS, Dr. Barun Sinha (India) MFIAP, ESFIAP, Mr. Anil Risal Singh (India) (MFIAP, ARPS, Hon.FIP, Hon.LCC , FFIP), and Mr. Bhaskar Athavale (India) (MPSA, EFIAP, GPU-Crown2, FFIP, APSI) feature the judging panels of different section of the Discovery Photo Exhibition 2022. Mr. Suniel Marathe (GMPSA, ARPS, EFIAP/p), the salon chairman, has done a wonderful job of managing this salon with accuracy and perfection. Mr. Raju Sutradhar of Stint Global India Private Limited acts as the webmaster for all kinds of technical support and database management in this salon.

The photography salon receives entries from a number of countries such as India, Sri Lanka, England, Wales, Vietnam, Germany, England, Hong Kong, USA, Turkey, Malta, Canada, Sweden, Poland, Malaysia, France, Brazil, Greece, Taiwan, Poland, Chile, Singapore, Finland, Cyprus, Italy, Australia, Kuwait, Netherlands, Argentina, Oman, Philipines, Denmark, and Slovenia.

Awards and Acceptances in Discovery 2022

The awards and acceptances in the Discovery Photo Exhibition 2022 adhere to the prescribed rules and formats of the Photographic Society of America (PSA). There is 1 PSA Gold Medal, 2 Discovery Gold Medals, 2 FFPC HM, 2 Discovery HM, and 3 FFPC CM in each section of the salon. The rate of acceptances in Open Monochrome, Open Colour, Nature and Woman sections are 34.58%, 34.36%. 34.54%, and 32.67% respectively. GPU Gold, the Prestigious Best Entrant Award in Discovery 2022 is won by Arnaldo Paulo Che (Hong Kong) for his noteworthy contribution in this field.

In the Open Monochrome section, the PSA Gold award-winning photograph is LANTERN FESTIVAL 7 by Arnaldo Paulo Che (Hong Kong), Two Discovery Gold award-winning photographs in this section are THREE BROTHERS 2 by Bernard Decaudin (France), and NUNCA MIRES HACIA ATRAS by Daniel Rovagnati (Argentina). In the Open Colour section, the PSA Gold medal is won by Arnaldo Paulo Che (Hong Kong) once again for his incredible photograph TEMPLE FESTIVAL 1. Richard Bailey (USA) and Daniel Rovagnati win Discovery Gold medals in this section for their photographs MAJESTIC and EL PAPEL DE LA FE respectively.

In the Nature section, RENZO MAZZOLA (Italy) wins the PSA Gold Medal for the photograph PELLICANI DAL CIUFFO. 2 Discovery Gold Medals in this section are received by Colin Bradshaw (England) for OSPREY CATCHING TROUT and Wei Lian (USA) for the photograph STARE-AT. The Woman section in this salon is a theme section under the PIDC category. This section’s PSA Gold medal is received by Arnaldo Paulo Che (Hong Kong) for the photograph PRAY 3. The 1st Discovery Gold is won by Yu Chan (USA) for the photograph HOLD FAST. The 2nd Discovery Gold Medal is received by Colin Bradshaw (England) for the photograph GRACEFULNESS PERSONIF.

I have used this software while judging Saints in Need salon in July 2020. Its one of the most user friendly software, I have used in Indian salons. As the Saints in Need is a charitable salon , Sri Raju Sutradhar provided entire software support free of cost. My heart felt thanks to him and his team for this benevolent work. It is my first judging experience with Pixel Clash software and off course the experience is awesome. It is fast and enriched with features which are mostly required by a jury member. Uploading, payment updates and judging are completely hassel free. No problem reported so far. After completing the marking juror can see the thumbnails with given marks which is a much required feature in my opinion. Mr. Sutradhar is very courteous and always ready to extend the support regarding software. I highly recommend Pixel Clash software for salon/circuit management.( Disclaimer: I am in no way related to Pixel Clash or with Mr. Raju Sutradhar neither I have any interest with it. )

The software used for Online judging in Saints in Need 2020 by Pixel Clash was an excellent one. It was so smooth and fast, without any problem. The second round was even more enjoyable with a particular facility called 'Review marks with thumbnail' through which it was possible to review the images in the order of scores given by me, and also providing a scope of modification at that stage. The overall judging experience using this software was highly enjoyable.
